Ad Targeting for politicians
Remember: in a commercial media system, the audience is the commodity -- you, your attention, your "eyeballs," as they say, are what is sought, bought and sold. The primary candidates in in Florida used research to figure out where to place their ads to read fellow republicans.

Honestly, more power to them. When it comes to getting your attention, whether it's advertisers or politicians, research is key. As with anything in public relations, you want to know your audience. There was a similar article on Yahoo a while ago, and scrolling through the comments, there was such outrage over the fact that politicians 'know.' But how is that any different from advertisers from selling them their favorite toothpaste? It's attention, not necessarily a vote. As a person, you can make that choice. There are options. It's not like Rick Santorum showed up at your house and demanded your vote or your first born child.
