For your next post, I would like you to start up a conversation with someone new. No, this is not a pick-up assignment: I want you to talk to someone you might not normally approach. Put down your cell phone and interact with someone you encounter face to face. Try to find out their name, get to know them -- let them get to know you. What might Goffman have to say about your experience? What about any other theories we've covered regarding human communication?
